FACULTY OF HUMANITIES

The Faculty of Humanities offer courses and undertake research in a wide range of subjects - languages, criminology, journalism, education, sociology and politics, among others - covering undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels of study. We are also committed to engagement with the world beyond the university, ensuring that our students have employability embedded as a theme in their courses and that our academic staff members are supported in seeking knowledge transfer and consultancy activities with public and private enterprise. We seek to build on our excellent reputation for the quality of student experience, while helping our students develop the skills they need for their future careers. We include the development of relevant employability skills in degree programs and are keen to help students gain work experience in their area of interest through internships, voluntary activity, group projects and increased links with regional business and creative industries.

OVERVIEW

Graduate degree programs offered in Faculty of Humanities are comprised of minimum 120 credits, you can transfer up to 60 credits from community colleges to count towards your bachelor degree. This undergraduate program consists of general education and elective courses, along with your particular area of study "a major"; duration: 03~05 years.

DOCTORAL and Ph.D DEGREE PROGRAM

OVERVIEW

A PhD is an advanced research qualification and is the highest degree offered by the Faculty of Humanities

The PhD is examined by thesis after a minimum of two but typically three years of supervised research. Supervision for PhD research is available in almost all subject areas offered by the Faculty.

The PhD thesis is a major piece of original research that demonstrates the candidate’s ability to carry out independent research and constitutes a significant and original contribution to knowledge or understanding of a field of study. As well as intelligence and an aptitude for research, the degree requires considerable dedication and tenacity.
